Jay Semko is known internationally as singer/bassist with multiple JUNO Award nominees and Western Canadian Music Hall of Fame members The Northern Pikes, and as an award winning music composer for numerous film and TV productions, including the syndicated series “Due South”. He was nominated in the Gemini Awards (now Canadian Screen Awards) in 1995 and 1996 for Best Original Score for a Dramatic Series for “Due South” and in 2013 was nominated in the Canadian Screen Awards for Best Original Music for a Non-Fiction Program or Series for “Dust Up”. He won the 1995 Saskatchewan Film & Video Showcase Award and 1997 Manitoba Motion Picture Industry Award for Best Original Music Score for the movie “Paris or Somewhere” and is a 2-time Saskatchewan Country Music Awards winner(2012,2015) for Roots Album of the Year, as well as being a multiple nominee in the Western Canadian Music Awards for Songwriter of the Year and Roots Solo Album of the Year. He is considered one of Canada’s premiere singer/songwriters, with 10 solo albums released, and has co-written and recorded with many of the best songwriters and musicians in music. Most recently Jay was nominated for Spiritual Artist of the Year in the 2020 Western Canadian Music Awards for his latest album entitled “Never Sent”. Jay continues to tour across Canada with the Northern Pikes and as a solo acoustic artist, sharing his songs, stories and adventures from his life in music, and his first book of poetry, “The Poetry & Lyrics of Jay Semko”, was published by Wood Dragon Books in 2021.
