Yorkton’s Golden Sheaf Awards Adds Feature, Podcast & Performance Categories. Enter now!

Nominations for the Golden Sheaf Awards are now open, and the Yorkton Film Festival has added four new categories to compete in: Best Feature Documentary, Best Feature Drama/Comedy, Best Performance and Best Non-Fiction Podcast.

  • Best Feature Documentary celebrates stand-alone, non-fiction films over 70 minutes that presents a compelling real-world subject through strong storytelling and cinematic craft.
  • Best Feature Drama/Comedy showcases scripted films over 70 minutes that demonstrate excellence in narrative, direction, and performance across dramatic or comedic storytelling.
  • Best Non-Fiction Podcast recognizes exceptional audio storytelling that explores factual topics—ranging from history, lifestyle, health, science, and true crime to investigative journalism—through compelling research and creative presentation. This category is open to one-off or episodic series.
  • Best Performance honours a standout on-screen performance in a dramatic, comedic, or musical role. The award recognizes actors of any gender who demonstrate emotional depth, character embodiment, and screen presence.

In addition, the festival has made a number of changes to other categories.
